adidas has officially entered a new chapter in its global story with its first-ever collaboration with a Nigerian brand, partnering with Lagos-based skate collective WAF. (Wafflesncream) on a special edition Superstar ADV that celebrates skate culture, community, and the spirit of Lagos.
The collaboration also marks another milestone, making WAF. the first African skate community to reinterpret the iconic Superstar silhouette.
Founded in 2012 by brothers Jomi and Yinka Marcus-Bello alongside KC Obijiaku, WAF. has spent more than a decade building West Africa’s skateboarding culture from the ground up. From creating local skate communities to opening its landmark skatepark at Freedom Park in 2024 and championing initiatives like Go Skate Day, the collective has become a driving force behind Nigeria’s growing skate scene.
Now, that journey is reflected in every detail of the Superstar ADV.
The sneaker draws heavily from Lagos Island, featuring a dusty grey leather upper inspired by the city’s industrial landscape. Breathable side panels are designed to suit the hot climate skaters experience daily, while a translucent pink outsole adds a distinctive finish that reflects the city’s vibrant energy.
Rather than simply updating an adidas classic, the collaboration tells the story of a community that has spent fourteen years creating opportunities and carving out space for skate culture in Nigeria.

The release also bridges more than five decades of Superstar heritage with the creativity and resilience of Nigeria’s youth culture, demonstrating how one of adidas’ most recognisable silhouettes continues to evolve through authentic cultural collaborations.
The WAF. x adidas Superstar ADV begins with an exclusive presale at adidas Lekki, Lagos, on July 23, before launching globally on October 12 through the WAF. flagship store, adidas retail locations, and adidas’ online platform.
