Former Manchester City player Benjamin Mendy has reportedly filed a ‘multi-million pound claim’ against the club for unpaid wages.

The French defender, who was recently acquitted of charges relating to sexual assault, had his £100,000-a-week wages stopped by the club in September 2021. Mendy is seeking the salary owed from September 2021 to June 2023, the expiration of his contract.

The claim alleges ‘unauthorised deductions from wages’ during the period when his trial was ongoing. Sports lawyer Nick De Marco KC is representing Mendy in the case, and the claim will be heard before an Employment Tribunal.
