When Ciara burst onto the scene in 2004, her style was unmistakable: tomboyish and streetwise, the singer’s uniform was comprised of slouchy sweats, midriff-bearing crop tops, and the freshest sneakers (all the better to dance in!) These days though, the 33-year-old singer tends towards a more gown-up, slinky silhouette. For date nights with her husband Russell Wilson, she favors jaw-dropping, body-con dresses to flatter her signature, toned curves.
Yesterday, while en route to a photo shoot in Los Angeles, Ciara traded in that figure-hugging line for a looser throwback look. Her eye-popping coral Daniel Patrick men’s tracksuit recalled the relaxed athletic styles of her past. Remember the classic baggy jeans and white tank she wore in the video for her hit single “Like a Boy,” for example, or the slouchy army pants and sports bra she sports in the clip for “Oh,” featuring Ludacris.
To bring that mid-2000s styling into the present, Ciara opted for fashion-forward accessories, namely a tiny Louis Vuitton monogrammed backpack and white heeled hiking boots. The combination delivered just the right amount of sophistication and cool; a refreshing reminder of why fashion fell in love with Ciara in the first place.
