Nollywood is mourning the loss of actor Junior Pope Odonwodo, known as Jnr Pope, who tragically drowned in a boat accident on a movie set in Asaba, Delta State.
The news of Jnr Pope’s passing came after initial confusion, with the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) president initially announcing that the actor was responding to treatment before confirming his death.
Jnr Pope leaves behind a wife and three children, adding to the spate of recent losses in the Nigerian film industry, including actress Aderounmu Adejumoke, known for her role in “Jenifa’s Diary,” and other prominent actors who passed away in March.
The tragic incident occurred just hours after Jnr Pope shared a video on Instagram, highlighting the risks actors take to entertain audiences, underscoring the dangers of his profession.
The Nollywood community is in mourning once again, as they come to terms with yet another loss of a talented actor.
