IGBOYA (BRAVERY) 2024 TRANSEASONAL COLLECTION

“Igboya” is the story of the strength and resilience of Africans from the perspective of our creative director.

The collection is highly influenced by the African culture of scarification. Scarification being one of the most impactful African culture that spread vastly across several parts of the continent and is now a dead tradition.

This collection seeks to highlight the tradition and its significance in the African culture; making reference to the Yoruba and Tapa of Nigeria, Nuer of South Sudan and Mursi of Ethiopia.

Scarification which was widely seen as a symbol of bravery and done by both men and women has partially been replaced by Tattoos today.

The collection features embellishments, intricately knitted pieces and manipulation of textures. Also playing with form and shapes; all delivered in a monochromatic palette of black, white, grey, blue and green.

The collection was fabricated with deadstock cotton and for the first time experimented with denim locally sourced in Lagos Nigeria.
