A world where fashion is often fleeting, Vixteau Couture stands firm—bold, architectural, and deeply rooted in African storytelling. At the helm is Victor Adewole, a designer whose vision is as intentional as it is inspiring. In this exclusive interview with La Mode Magazine, he shares the origins of the brand, its signature approach to luxury, and what’s next on the global runway.
La Mode: What inspired the creation of Vixteau Couture, and what is the core vision behind the brand?
Victor: Vixteau Couture was born from a desire to tell compelling African stories through the language of luxury fashion. Our vision is to redefine what African elegance looks like on a global scale bold, architectural, culturally rooted, and unapologetically refined. We design for the modern muse who commands attention with grace and intention.
La Mode: How do you define “luxury” in the context of African fashion?
Victor: For us, luxury is not just about price or exclusivity it’s about intentionality. It’s in the fabric choices, the cut, the craftsmanship, the narrative woven into each piece. African luxury is identity, history, and heritage elevated with precision. It’s wearing culture without compromising modern sophistication.
La Mode: Your collections are now stocked by luxury boutiques like Regalio, RJ4, Fazal, and Vivo. What do these partnerships mean for your brand?
Victor: These partnerships are vital. Boutiques like Regalio in Nigeria , RJ4 in Nigeria , Fazal in Kenya, and Vivo in Kenya understand our vision and curate for a clientele that appreciates bold, culturally conscious fashion. Being in these spaces elevates our global footprint and connects us with style-forward customers who want something timeless, yet new.
La Mode : How do you maintain consistency in quality and brand experience across these international stockists?
Victor: We work closely with each boutique, offering tailored product selections and providing brand training to their style teams. Every piece is handcrafted with consistency in mind from our atelier to the boutique floor, we aim for the same standard of excellence.
La Mode: What makes your collections, like White Noise, Exquisite, and Glam Fab, resonate across diverse luxury markets?
Victor: They all carry a universal appeal anchored in emotion and craftsmanship. White Noise spoke to the search for clarity in chaos, Exquisite reimagined regal femininity, and Glam Fab celebrated fearless glamour. These stories are human, and when you pair that with expert tailoring and global silhouettes, they resonate whether you’re in Paris or Cape Town.
La Mode : As an African designer, how do you balance cultural authenticity with global relevance?
Victor: I believe authenticity is our global advantage. We don’t dilute the essence we elevate it. From Igbo embroidery techniques to Yoruba-inspired silhouettes, we let culture lead and then refine it through a couture lens that appeals across borders.
La Mode: What’s next for Vixteau Couture? Any new boutiques or markets on the horizon?
Victor: Absolutely. We’re expanding into Asian markets , with interest from boutiques in Tokyo and Seoul. Also expanding into UK market. We’re also in talks for capsule exhibitions in Paris and a limited-run bridal couture line. It’s an exciting chapter and we’re just getting started.
