Funke Akindele recently opened up about the hurtful comments she’s received regarding the late actress Aderounmu Adejumoke and her response to the situation.
During an emotional Instagram live session, Funke expressed her sadness over the situation, particularly the curses directed at her children. She clarified that she was unaware of Aderounmu’s illness and was shocked by the accusations.
Funke explained that her relationship with Aderounmu was professional, limited to their work on Jenifa’s Diaries. She emphasized that Aderounmu acted in the show, received payment, and left, and they did not have a personal relationship outside of work.
Responding to claims that she ignored Aderounmu’s pleas for help, Funke stated that she gives support but does not publicize it. She expressed her willingness to assist if she had known about Aderounmu’s situation.
Despite her efforts to reach out to Aderounmu’s brother after her passing, Funke did not receive a response. She shared that she is deeply affected by the situation and feels misunderstood, especially considering the challenges she has faced in her personal life.
