Nollywood actress Ini Dima-Okojie is opening up about her renewed battle with fibroids, revealing that she has taken drastic steps to manage the condition without resorting to surgery. In a video shared on her TikTok account on August 15, 2024, the beloved actress disclosed that she has given up bread, meat, and several other foods in her holistic journey to shrink the fibroids, which recently made a troubling return.
Ini, who initially had her fibroids removed in 2020, shared that she is determined to avoid another invasive procedure. Instead, she’s adopting a special fibroid diet that eliminates foods known to be high in estrogen, as these can contribute to the growth of fibroids.
“So I’m on a holistic journey to shrink my fibroids, which means I have to go on a special fibroid diet and these are some of the things I had to give up,” Ini explained in the video. “Red meat, which means lamb, cow, ram, goat, and all that goat meat, sausages, processed meat, and any form of red meat. White carbs like white pasta, noodles, rice, and bread, which I love so much.”
She further detailed other foods she’s had to cut out, including dairy products, refined sugar, and processed foods. “Dairy, so cheese, milk, refined sugar like cookies, cakes, condiments, and processed food in general. Also, carbonated drinks and caffeine. Honorary mention, sodium and anything high in salt. So I am avoiding these things because they are high in estrogen and these things can make the fibroids grow.”
This candid update comes after Ini shared the heartbreaking news in July 2024 that her fibroids had returned, three years after her initial surgery. In that emotional video, she spoke about the mental and emotional toll this setback has taken on her, expressing her resolve to find non-surgical ways to manage her condition.
