Jennifer Hudson is all that glitters on the red carpet!
The singer, actress, talk show host, and mom (not to mention EGOT winner) stunned everyone at the 2024 Daytime Emmy Awards on June 7 in Los Angeles with a look that radiated pure confidence.
Hudson, 42, turned heads as she walked the red carpet in a plunging gown adorned with multi-colored floral embellishments. The pink, purple, and yellow flowers sparkled all over the floor-length dress, making her look like a living bouquet. She completed her look with silver rings and wore her hair in a chic braided bun, adding a touch of elegance.
The Jennifer Hudson Show is up for four Daytime Emmys this year: lighting direction, outstanding live sound mixing and sound editing, costume design/styling, and daytime talk show series. Competing against heavyweights like The Kelly Clarkson Show, The Tamron Hall Show, Turning the Tables with Robin Roberts, and The View, Hudson is definitely in impressive company.
“It’s a dream,” Hudson told PEOPLE while walking the red carpet. “I feel like we were just here last year. But to be back again? It feels like family and it’s just an honor to be here, just to be recognized and acknowledged and in a room with so much talent and television.”
Hudson, already a Daytime Emmy winner for her animated short Baba Yaga (which she co-produced and lent her voice to), was also nominated in this category in 2023. Though she was beat out by Kelly Clarkson last year, Hudson shined bright in a rose gold sequin gown that looked straight out of Dreamgirls, paired with a dazzling necklace to match.
In her PEOPLE 2022 People of the Year cover story, Hudson opened up about navigating her journey as a daytime talk show host since her show started in September 2022.
“I can’t say I knew what to expect. I’m still learning as I go. I think seeing how huge of a machine it is, how many departments it has, meeting the crew and the staff,” she said. “I’ve been a guest on a show like this, but to come in from a host perspective and see the entire production, I think that’s the most surprising part.”
She also reflected on the newly appointed EGOT title she earned that year. In addition to her Daytime Emmy, Hudson has won an Oscar for Dreamgirls, a Grammy in 2009 for Best R&B Album (her first of two), and a Tony for co-producing A Strange Loop, making her the 17th person — and youngest female — to achieve EGOT status.
“I’m still figuring that out,” Hudson told PEOPLE. “It’s something, obviously, that I aspired to, but it takes a long time to process. It puts me in a better position to be able to lend more support. But I feel the same way [about] being a talk show host, to create a platform for everyone, just so we all have a place to feel included, and using my position and impact to be able to just continue to bring everyone together.”
The 2024 Daytime Emmy Awards will air on the CBS Television Network and will be available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+. Don’t miss out on seeing Jennifer Hudson shine even brighter!
