Jermaine Jackson, renowned for his role in the legendary Jackson 5, is facing serious allegations of sexual assault. The accusations, brought forth by Rita Butler Barrett, detail a harrowing incident that unfolded in the spring of 1988.
Barrett, who had both professional and personal ties with Jackson, claims that the assault occurred at her residence. She reportedly knew Jackson for several years prior to the incident due to her husband’s close association with Berry Gordy, who, she believes, had a business relationship with Jackson at the time.
The lawsuit alleges that Jackson, unannounced, forced his way into Barrett’s home and subjected her to sexual assault with force and violence. Barrett, described as a woman of faith, resorted to praying for help during the ordeal, fearing for her life.
Disturbingly, Barrett claims she reported the assault to Berry Gordy the following day, accusing him of withholding and concealing the acts. The lawsuit contends that this alleged cover-up allowed Jackson, Gordy, and others involved to profit from Jackson’s work for years to come.
The legal documents assert severe emotional, physical, and psychological injury suffered by Barrett, including humiliation, shame, guilt, economic loss, and permanent emotional distress.
