Nostalgic Magic, was created to give featured fashion designers artistic liberty to express their individual thoughts and interpretations of vintage fashion. Taking guests back in time to a cool and happy period in their lives. Clients and fashion enthusiasts were treated to an evening of nostalgic memory of fashion, art and creativity.
Each designer present had a unique creative space which reflected their fashion muse and inspiration; Elpis Megalio, for instance, got inspiration from a traditional European and Parisienne soiree with mannequins showcased the designer’s vintage collection. Mazelle studio, embraced a Nigerian theme, infusing memories from her bedroom into her fashion set including a vintage bed, dressing table, hand-oven mats and a picture collage of old family photos.
Explaining the inspiration behind the event, Mariam Afolabi creative director of Mazelle said “I spent so much of my time in Milan visiting vintage flea markets and I would come back to Nigeria and use the items to decorate my room. This got me thinking ‘what does fashion really mean to me? Where do I get my inspiration from?’ and that’s when I came up with the idea of Nostalgic Magic. I decided to partner with some other fashion designers to produce this platform; Allowing designers express where they get their fashion inspiration.”
Nostalgic Magic was truly a journey through time as guests enjoyed retro music covered by Jazzhole along with old records from the legendary King Sunny Ade on sale.
Celebrities and fashion influence such as Toni Tones, Eki Ogungbor L.A.X, Brymo, Nowe Isibor and many others were present at the show..
