Michaela Coel Stuns in Chanel at The Christophers Premiere with Modern Black-and-White Look

Black and white may be fashion’s most reliable pairing, but in the hands of Michaela Coel, it becomes something far more considered. For the premiere of The Christophers, the actress delivered a modern take on monochrome dressing—one rooted in texture, detail, and quiet precision.

Dressed in a full look by Chanel under the direction of Matthieu Blazy, Coel embraced the “simple top, statement skirt” formula currently dominating the runways. At first glance, the look felt minimal: a white crewneck paired with a black midi skirt. But a closer look revealed a layered, intricate construction.

Her matte white top from Still Here featured subtle ribbed trims that added depth without disrupting its clean finish. The skirt, however, carried the weight of the look—covered in curved, glistening beadwork that caught the light with every step. A tufted raffia hem added a tactile, almost sculptural quality, echoing the dimensional elements seen in Blazy’s early Chanel collections.

Styled by Nell Kalonji, the accessories stayed true to the monochrome mood. Glossy black stud earrings streamlined the look, while white ankle-strap pumps with black diamond-shaped toes introduced a subtle harlequin effect—a fresh twist on Chanel’s signature cap-toe silhouette.

This isn’t Coel’s first exploration of monochrome minimalism this season. At Blazy’s Spring 2026 debut show, she stepped out in another Chanel look built on black-and-white contrasts, pairing a cropped white top with a structured black leather set. Across both appearances, the focus remains the same: restraint, texture, and thoughtful detailing over excess.

With The Christophers marking her first project of 2026, Coel is only just getting started. She’s also set to appear in Mother Mary, a fashion-driven thriller alongside Anne Hathaway, later this month.

If this red carpet moment is anything to go by, her style narrative this year will be just as compelling as her performances.
