Mulberry’s Iris tote is the new IT bag that millennial fashion fans are racing to get their hands on

Mulberry is no stranger to a cult bag, with the Alexa, the Bayswater and the Hampstead amongst some of the wildly popular British brand’s biggest hitters. But new to the line-up is the ‘Iris’, an every day tote brought into the family for autumn/winter 2019 that’s already selling out. And it seems to be millennials that are really going wild for it…

Available in two different sizes, the slouchy tote has several gold-dust aspects that render it every bag-fanatic’s dream – not least, the interchangeable handles.
Providing the ultimate opportunity for personalisation, seven base bag shades – from black to coral, slate grey to powder blue (with even a denim fabric incarnation) – can be mixed with any of the seventeen handle formations, meaning that there are well over a hundred different combinations and pairings.

This personalisable characteristic is one of the key reasons for the bag’s success, according to Mulberry’s creative director Johnny Coca.

“I already know that the Iris will be the most popular bag of our new collection amongst Millennials”, Johnny told GLAMOUR UK during his presentation in Paris earlier this month.

“I really like it because it’s chic and quite casual, and it’s also quite specific with the closure. I love the fact you can really twist the look with the handles, you can really play with it. I think it’s great that you can make sure that your one is different to your friend’s.”

“I love the larger size, but the smaller is already selling out, and I think it’s because it’s more for a woman who’s really busy and on-the-go.”
