NBCUniversal Orders Pilot for “Suits L.A.” Spinoff

NBCUniversal has officially greenlit a pilot for “Suits L.A.,” a spinoff of the popular legal drama “Suits.”

The new series, set in the same universe as the original show, will feature a fresh cast and explore the character of Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York, now representing powerful clients in Los Angeles.

The pilot will be directed by Victoria Mahoney and is set to begin production in late March in Vancouver. “Suits” creator Aaron Korsh is writing the pilot and executive producing alongside David Bartis, Doug Liman, and Gene Klein.

While the cast of the original series is not confirmed for the spinoff, some actors, including Patrick J. Adams, have expressed interest in reprising their roles. If the pilot is successful and the series is picked up, “Suits L.A.” could potentially debut in the 2024-2025 television season.

The show has gained popularity on streaming platforms, with Netflix announcing its addition to the streaming service in June. The series reached 3 billion viewing minutes between Netflix and Peacock for the week of June 26 to July 2, with the first season accumulating over 26 million hours viewed during that week alone. “Suits” has maintained a strong presence in Netflix’s Top 10 Series for several weeks.

Seasons 1 to 8 of Suits can be streamed on Netflix. The 9th and final season of the drama is available on Peacock.
