Nicki Minaj’s Amsterdam fans are getting an apology they never expected. The rapper, 41, found herself in a whirlwind of drama after being arrested in the Netherlands for allegedly carrying drugs. The incident led to the sudden cancellation of her concert, leaving her supporters disappointed and concerned.
In a video shared by a fan account, Nicki, visibly emotional, addressed her fans outside her Manchester hotel. “I love you, and I’m so sorry this happened tonight,” she said, clearly distressed by the situation.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Nicki explained her side of the story and thanked everyone who prayed for her. “May God cover you & all that is connected to you. May you be blessed beyond your imagination,” she wrote, expressing gratitude amidst the chaos.
Nicki then detailed the ordeal, describing how she sat in a jail cell for 5-6 hours and even when she was released, her plane faced further delays. “The flight was 50 mins. 50 mins,” she emphasized, showing her frustration. She added, “That’s why they had to do the big song & dance b/c they knew I’d still find a way to perform even if it came down to my last 90 mins in the building.”
Nicki didn’t hold back, accusing the authorities of deliberately trying to sabotage her show. “I succeeded @ getting to the root of it all by recording them & posting everything in real time,” she said, promising that she had “sooooooooo much video evidence.”
To her fans, Nicki extended her “deepest & most sincere apologies.” She acknowledged the pain and disappointment caused, saying, “They sure did know exactly how to hurt me today but this too, shall pass.”
In a bid to make it up to her fans, Nicki promised not just a rescheduled performance but also an “added bonus” for everyone who had tickets to the canceled show. She assured them that her upcoming shows in Birmingham and Manchester were still on schedule.
Nicki initially recorded her arrest in an Instagram Live video, which was later posted on X by a fan account. The video shows police officers telling her she was “under arrest” for “carrying drugs” and asking her to get in a van. A second video posted on her Instagram revealed further confrontations with the authorities, who wanted to search her luggage again.
In a series of posts on X, Nicki claimed the arrest was an attempt to “sabotage my tour.” She suggested that people were “paid big money” to disrupt her tour because they were angry about its success. She also mentioned issues with her travel arrangements, saying, “They got caught stealing money from my travel/jets. Got fired. Got mad. Etc.”
While the full story behind Nicki’s arrest remains unclear, her fans are rallying behind her, eager to see her back on stage and stronger than ever. As Nicki said, “This too, shall pass,” and her fans are hopeful for better days ahead.
