La Mode Magazine and La Mode Disability Foundation Unveiled the 5th Edition of Green October Event Today July 1st, 2019 with A Press Conference.
It was indeed a successful press conference today July 1st, 2019 as La Mode Magazine unveiled the 2019 Green October Event 5th Edition with theme ‘’Disability Inclusion.”
Present at the press conference were top media officials, advocates for 2019 Green October Event; Award-winning Actress Tana Egbo-Adelana, the CEO of Miss Polo Nigeria Sandra Ogbebor, amongst others. It was basically a conversation with the press.
Sandra Odige, the CEO and Founder of La Mode Magazine and La Mode Disability Foundation gave an overview about the event and emphasised on the need for people to show support and love to persons with disabilities and include them in their policies, job positions, events, and activities. They shouldn’t be neglected.
She called on the public to offer opportunities to people with disabilities and reach out to the La Mode Disability Foundation in a bid to be more inclusive towards people with disabilities.
Actress Tana Egbo-Adelana, stated that disability goes beyond the physical and that any opportunity to reach out to anyone with any form of disability is something she will always willingly want to be a part of.
She noted that people with disabilities often can offer services that everyone else does if given adequate training and equal opportunities.
Sandra Ogbebor commended the initiative of the CEO Of Lamode magazine in playing her part to reach out to people with disabilities and calls on the public to imbibe the lifestyle and reach out to people with disabilities, offer them jobs, grant them opportunities to learn different skills which will give them the ability to offer services to their immediate society and make them feel like they are not neglected because of their deformations and hence play their parts in making the world a better place.
‘‘Green October Event’’ is an initiative of La Mode Magazine and La Mode Disability foundation. It is an annual Fashion Show and Award event to create awareness, celebrate, appreciate and support persons living with disabilities.
The initiative is an advocacy awareness platform where persons with disability are given a voice.
The Signed Nigeria Disability Bill and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons living with Disabilities emphasises the right to life, equality, and non-discrimination of persons living with disabilities.
The 2015 edition was focused on Down syndrome, 2016 on Autism, 2017 on Cerebral Palsy, 2018 edition was tagged ‘’Beyond Disabilities’’.
The 2019 theme is ‘’Disability Inclusion ‘’- making sure everybody has the same opportunities to participate in every aspect of life. Including persons with disabilities in everyday activities and encouraging them to have roles similar to their peers who do not have a disability.
La Mode Magazine CEO, Sandra Odige, stated that this years’ event will be bigger, better and bridge the gap between the elites; like celebrities and high networked individuals and people with disabilities.
Green October event is an avenue where philanthropic and humanitarian gestures are given an annual prestigious award to people who have contributed significantly to humanity in their various fields of endeavours without prejudice on grounds of gender, sexual orientation, religion or ethnicity.
The annual event is also a platform to showcase African fashion and designs.
At the event, fashion awards are given to deserving Nigerians. The event promotes made in Nigeria fashion through the fashion show and exhibition.
The event usually takes place on Nigeria’s Independence Day, October 1st at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, Nigeria.
