Nollywood actors Chimezie Imo, Mike Afolarin, Tomiwa Tegbe, and Emeka Nwagbaraocha are coming together once again—this time not on screen, but on stage—for Project X… Almost Famous, the debut production from their newly formed creative collective, The MECT Company.
The four actors, who first won audiences over in the coming-of-age favourite Kasala, are reuniting in a project that feels both personal and intentional. Beyond starring in the production, they are also executive producing it together, marking a shift from collaborators to creative architects.
Set in Lagos, Project X… Almost Famous is a contemporary drama that follows four former members of a defunct music group, 4-Eva, as they navigate adulthood, ambition, and survival in a city that never stops demanding more. At its core, the story explores friendship under pressure—what it means to grow together, drift apart, and still find your way back to shared dreams.
Written by Chiemeka Osuagwu and directed by Goodness Emmanuel, the production blends sharp dialogue with live musical elements, grounding its emotional beats in the texture and unpredictability of modern Lagos life. Themes of brotherhood, failure, hope, and reinvention run through the narrative, shaping a story that feels as intimate as it is expansive.
According to the collective, the project is deeply rooted in their shared history. “Since Kasala, each of us has continued to grow individually, but there’s something special about coming back together,” they shared. “This project is personal. It’s about the friendships that hold us up, the dreams we refuse to let die, and the city that tests us every single day.”
With its combination of rising Nollywood talent, live performance energy, and emotionally grounded storytelling, Project X… Almost Famous positions itself as one of the most anticipated stage productions of 2026.
The production will run over two weekends at the MUSON Centre, Agip Hall, Lagos, on July 18–19 and July 25–26, 2026. Ticket details and full cast announcements are expected in the coming weeks.
