It’s one thing to be great. It’s another to be this good while holding down motherhood and medicine. Sarah Ogoke, take a bow.

The AfroBasket 2025 title just landed in Nigeria’s trophy case again, and guess who was right in the middle of it? Sarah Ogoke. The five-time champion (yes, five) helped D’Tigress bring it home again, and she did it with her baby in one hand and the weight of a whole legacy in the other.

Born in November, her son made his first AfroBasket appearance in July — stroller and all — as Ogoke suited up for national duty. No fuss, no drama. Just a Nigerian queen doing what queens do: showing up and showing out.

She’s not just another star player. She’s been the heart of this team, through global tournaments, squad shake-ups, and Olympic heartbreaks. Even after losing her father and missing the Games while pregnant, she didn’t just bounce back — she came back better.

2025 marked her fifth AfroBasket win (2017, 2019, 2021, 2023, and now this). That’s not just dominance. That’s dynasty. No other Nigerian basketball player has done it.

And just when you think that’s enough to brag about, there’s more. Sarah Ogoke is also a trained podiatric surgeon. Yep, the woman balancing rebounds and rotations is also doing post-op foot care and medical charts — all while raising a toddler.

When protests rocked the team over unpaid wages and veteran players were sidelined, Ogoke didn’t fold. She led. She pulled a fractured team together, put points on the board, and proved — once again — that the D’Tigress spirit is alive and unshakable.
