La Mode Magazine’s annual Green October Event hit a major milestone as it had its 10th Edition on Tuesday 1st October 2024. The event which was themed “Disabilities and Inclusion” created some awesome memories and effects printed in the hearts of everyone present.

The annual Green October Event is put together to raise awareness for people living with disabilities, with the aim to have them seamlessly recognized as active members of society and to put an end to any form of discrimination and stigmatization. The event also helps promote African Fashion and creativity not just in the fashion industry but in the African entertainment sphere as a whole.
This year’s edition was hosted by internationally recognised pageant coach and consultant, Ahanor Anthonia, Reality TV star, and former BBNaija housemate, Nelson Ewerem.

This edition saw the presence of most of the A-List celebrities and top fashion entrepreneurs from across the continent, with celebrities such as Nons Miraj, Yemi Cregx, Queen Mercy, Ashmusy, Chioma Iyagba and lots more, and top fashion entrepreneurs such as Zeebah Empire, Emagine By Bukola, Khosi Twala of South Africa, Classiqk Diane of Ghana, Mimi Kasu, and much more in attendance.


This year’s event also saw some awesome runway moments by some of Nigeria’s fastest-rising fashion powerhouses, such as AskFashionista, Raph Designs, Taviera Clothing, Jojane Atelier, Phillz, Lushville, GND Lux, May Hands, Monaluxe Empire, and Shibz Fabrics & Craft. It also saw amazing performances by some of Nigeria top and fast-rising talents like dance groups, House of Awesome and Dacrystals Dance Academy, saxophonist, Abel Tee, music artist, ACE TMG, all entertaining the crowd.


The event also stayed true to its theme by promoting and creating awareness for the inclusion of people living with disabilities through its Ability Spotlight sessions, which shone the light on some notable individuals with disabilities but are doing great in the careers, businesses, and individual fields, hence passing across the message that if given the right skills, opportunity and the right platform, people with disabilities can undoubtedly become great and notable members of our society.


The highlight of the event however, was the annual prestigious and most coveted La Mode Awards presentation, which is usually presented to notable individuals and fashion entrepreneurs in a bid to recognise and appreciate their hard work and input in society. With celebrities such as the Aneke twins (Chidinma and Chidiebere Aneke), Eleanya Chinonso Jennifer aka Nons Miraj, Eze Ethel Ugochukwu, Hon. Munira Sulieman Tanimu, Ruth Kadiri, Lady Jasmine C. Lopez Aramide, Saga Adeoluwa, Tana Adelana, and Anita Adeoye going home with humanitarian awards, Neo Akpofure and Uche Montana bagging the coveted Fashionable Male celebrity of the year and the Red-Carpet Celebrity of the Year awards respectively. Emagine by Bukola went home with the most coveted Iconic Fashion Designer of the Year Award and Mimi Kasu bagged the award for Inspiring Fashion Designer of the Year. Ajisquare Academy won the Fashion School of Year category.
The biggest winner of the night has to be Zeebah Empire who went home with two of the biggest awards of the night, one for the Fashion Designer of the Year and the other for the coveted best-dressed celebrity of the night.
