Fans have been waiting for the news for over ten years: “Sex and the City” will be back on the small screen soon. This Sunday, January 10, the HBO Max channel announced in a press release that a new season of 10 episodes would be currently in preparation.
On social networks, Sarah Jessica Parker also wanted to share the good news with a teaser. We can see images and sounds of New York, the city in which the cult series takes place, then we hear the noise of Sarah Jessica Parker typing on her computer keyboard “And just like that …”, the name chosen for this new season, followed by “the story continues”.
In the cast, fans of the series should find Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon who will reprise their roles as Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbes. Only absent from this new season: Kim Cattrall who played the role of Samantha Jones.
Production of the series is slated to begin in the spring of 2021 in New York City. Hoping that the Covid-19 does not decide to slow things down. The statement explains that the new episodes should tell the stories of love and friendship of its heroines when they are now in their fifties.
The original series “Sex and the City”, created by Darren Star, is based on the eponymous book by Candace Bushnell released in 1997. The first episode premiered in 1998 and six seasons followed. Two films were also released in theaters in 2008 and 2010.
