Simone Ashley brought timeless glamour to the rails as she attended an exclusive celebration aboard the Belmond British Pullman on May 9. The event marked the unveiling of Celia, the train’s newest private dining carriage imagined by filmmaker Baz Luhrmann and his longtime creative collaborator and wife, Catherine Martin.

Leaning into the train’s vintage Art Deco atmosphere, the The Devil Wears Prada 2 star wore a textured gold velvet gown from Donna Karan’s Fall 2001 collection. The archival piece featured an asymmetrical neckline and rich metallic sheen that perfectly complemented the nostalgic elegance of the evening.

Ashley elevated the look with dramatic gold chandelier earrings that grazed her shoulders and layered a shaggy charcoal-and-white bohemian coat over the gown for added texture and warmth. Her beauty look remained understated yet polished, featuring beachy waves, smoky eyeliner, and a nude lip.

The dress itself carries runway history. Supermodel Stella Tennant originally debuted the design during New York Fashion Week in 2001, cementing its place within early-2000s fashion archives.

The evening unfolded aboard the restored 1920s and 1930s carriages of the Belmond British Pullman, known for its classic Art Deco interiors and luxury excursions through destinations including Oxford, Canterbury, and Bath. Celia joins the train’s growing list of artist-designed carriages, alongside the famous Cygnus carriage created by filmmaker Wes Anderson.

Guests boarded at London Victoria Station for a champagne reception before enjoying a three-course dinner, cocktails, live music, and an after-party hosted at Mark’s Club.

The glamorous event was co-hosted by Anna Wintour and attracted an impressive guest list including Roger Federer, Tom Ford, Stella McCartney, Alexa Chung, Emma Corrin and several other notable figures from fashion, film, and art.

The appearance adds to a strong run of fashion moments for Simone Ashley, who has been making headlines throughout the promotional rollout for The Devil Wears Prada 2 across Europe and the United States.

Just days earlier, the actress captivated audiences at the Met Gala in a draped chain gown by Stella McCartney, styled with diamond jewelry from De Beers and silver heels by Stuart Weitzman.

Speaking to Vogue UK earlier this year, Ashley reflected on her evolving style, sharing, “The older I get, the more confident I feel. I’m loving a “90s vibe at the moment it makes me feel so chic.”
