Teyana Taylor has delivered one memorable red carpet moment after another this awards season, and at the 98th Academy Awards in Los Angeles, the One Battle After Another star kept the momentum going.
Nominated for Best Actress, Taylor stepped out in a custom Chanel gown designed by Matthieu Blazy that sparkled from every angle. The spaghetti-strap gown featured a sheer bodice covered in black-and-white sequins, creating a striking contrast against the dramatic flared mermaid skirt. The design flowed into an epic train finished with textured fringe, adding movement and drama to the look. Taylor completed the ensemble with dazzling jewelry from Tiffany & Co., including an 18-carat diamond necklace paired with matching earrings and rings.
Taylor has embraced a range of luxury fashion houses throughout the awards season, from a daring Thom Browne naked dress at the Screen Actors Guild Awards to her now-infamous exposed thong moment in Schiaparelli at the Golden Globe Awards. Still, all signs pointed to Chanel for Hollywood’s biggest night.
The evening’s fashion moment had already been foreshadowed the day before. On Saturday, Taylor attended the annual Chanel and Charles Finch Pre-Oscars Dinner at the The Polo Lounge wearing a striking Chanel coat fresh off the runway. Styled as a dress, the piece featured an eclectic shearling fabric and was paired with two-toned Chanel boots and cat-eye glasses. The look had just debuted during the Chanel Fall 2026 show days earlier, where Taylor was seated front row capturing the moment on her phone clearly already envisioning it for a Hollywood appearance.
Throughout the 2026 awards season, Taylor has largely styled herself, occasionally collaborating with renowned styling duo Wayman Bannerman and Micah McDonald. She also works closely with designers to shape each red carpet appearance, including her collaboration with Blazy for the Oscars gown.
Speaking earlier this year, Taylor explained her approach to red carpet fashion: “I always work really closely with the designer and their teams to create something custom for moments like that. Those big events deserve intention.”
Mission accomplished.
