A tragic gas explosion has claimed the lives of Chioma Onuabuchi, the younger sister of Nigerian Afrobeat star Patoranking, and her husband, George Onuabuchi. The devastating incident occurred on August 25, 2024, in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, leaving their three-year-old son orphaned.
According to DSP Joshua Ukandu, the spokesperson for the Ebonyi Police Command, the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder, contradicting earlier speculations that it was due to an inverter battery. Despite being rushed to the hospital after the explosion, Chioma sadly passed away in August, followed by her husband George in September.
Family members have expressed their heartbreak over the loss, with one relative calling it a deeply sad moment for the family. “They were a young couple. They had only a child, a three-year-old son,” the relative said, emphasizing the profound impact of the tragedy.
This unfortunate incident has left the family and those around them devastated, with little more known due to the couple’s untimely passing.
