Ugo Ugochukwu delivered a dominant performance at Silverstone, winning the 2026 FIA Formula 3 Sprint Race by a record-breaking 17.023 seconds. The victory marked his second win of the season, making him the first driver to achieve multiple wins in the 2026 campaign.
Ugochukwu has since reflected on a standout weekend at Silverstone after securing a record-breaking FIA Formula 3 Sprint Race victory and a podium finish in the Feature Race.
The Campos Racing driver made history on Saturday with a dominant 17.023-second win, the largest winning margin in Formula 3 history. He followed that performance with an impressive recovery drive on Sunday, climbing from 12th on the grid to finish sixth on the road before post-race penalties elevated him to third place.
Speaking after the race weekend, Ugochukwu revealed he was surprised by the size of his advantage during the Sprint Race, crediting strong tyre management for the result.
“At the halfway point, my engineer told me to stop pushing because that was such a big gap. I didn’t even realise how far I was into the lead, and I think we just kind of nailed the tyre management,” he said.
The championship leader also described Sunday’s race as a damage-limitation exercise, taking advantage of key overtaking opportunities to maximise his points haul despite the challenges of racing in a long DRS train.
Looking ahead to Spa-Francorchamps, Ugochukwu remains focused on consistency as the title battle enters its final stages.
“The main thing is to be consistently there at the front. Still four rounds to go, so we need to focus race by race. Once we get closer to the end of the season, we’ll see where we end up,” he said.
With four rounds remaining, Ugochukwu continues to lead the FIA Formula 3 Drivers’ Championship and strengthen his position as one of motorsport’s most exciting young prospects.
