Veekee James Finally Designed the Bride She Wanted to Be

Veekee James spends so much time creating bridal dreams for other women. This time, she became her own muse.

At the A Mama Deola Wedding Story premiere in Lagos, the designer arrived in a bespoke white ballgown she designed herself, complete with a dramatic floor-length tulle veil.

The gown was built around a structured basque-waist corset, with a crystal-beaded sheer yoke that created an almost floating effect across her shoulders. Soft trails of crystals fell from the neckline, giving the bodice a sculptural finish.

Then came the skirt, full, dramatic and unapologetically bridal.

Veekee paired the voluminous tulle gown with a sculpted bow-shaped updo and diamond drop earrings, keeping the styling polished enough to let the craftsmanship speak.

But what made the look hit differently was the story behind it.

Under a “White Wedding Couture” dress code, one of Nigeria’s most recognisable bridalwear designers decided to make her own wedding fantasy the main event.

After dressing countless brides and celebrities, Veekee James finally got to be the bride and she designed the dress.

Full circle looks good on her.
