Vera Wang never fails to leave jaws on the red carpet. The legendary fashion designer, at the age of 74, stole the spotlight at the 2024 Fragrance Foundation Awards on Wednesday, June 5, with an eye-catching ensemble that screamed high fashion and confidence.
Wang stepped out in a dramatic neon yellow-green mermaid-style gown that was so bright she needed shades — literally. The dress featured a plunging neckline, which she balanced with a black bandeau top underneath, and a feathered train that added even more drama to her look. To top it off, Vera donned a pair of oversized black sunglasses and a simple black watch. Her hair was sleek, straight, and as shiny as ever, completing her stunning look.
Inside the event, Wang ditched the sunglasses and mingled with fellow fashion icons Anna Sui and Nina García, posing for photos that will surely be talked about for weeks. Other attendees included Julianna Margulies, Christie Brinkley, and Lucy Hale, but it was Wang who truly stole the show.

Wang debuted another age-defying look in February at the 2024 BAFTA Gala at the Peninsula Hotel in London. She wore a white gown with a draped bodice and dramatic statement hood, paired with detached black sleeves for a chic black-and-white ensemble.
As Vera Wang approaches her 75th birthday on June 27, she shared her thoughts on the milestone with PEOPLE. “Birthday plans are up in the air. I mean, 75 is a lot of pressure,” she confessed backstage at the Fashion Scholarship Fund Gala on April 8. One thing is certain, though: there will be cake. “We’re cake people, as you can tell,” she said with a smile.
When it comes to aging, Wang’s philosophy is simple: keep going. “I think maybe a little bit like Warren Buffett or Queen Elizabeth II, I’m just going to keep prodding on because I feel as though I’m able to do my best work more and more,” she said. “I’m really trying to respect that voice in me, that I feel very happy to be creating. That’s what it’s all about, really.”
