Zendaya, known for her roles in Euphoria and the Spider-Man franchise, recently partnered with the Women Donors Network to donate $100,000 to the California Shakespeare Theater in Oakland, Calif. This donation, made to the theater’s North Star Fund, aims to support improvements and future shows.
The theater, founded in 1974, holds a special place in Zendaya’s heart, as her mother worked there for 12 summers when Zendaya was a child. The donation will contribute to upgrading sound and lighting systems, enhancing the café, and funding the 50th Anniversary production of As You Like It, directed by Elizabeth Carter.
“We are deeply grateful to Zendaya and the WDN for their partnership, and their generous grant of $100,000 to the North Star Fund,” said Clive Worsley, the theater’s executive director. “This gift helps keep Cal Shakes going strong as we prepare for our 50th Anniversary season!”
