At ten, my dad taught me how to overhaul diesel generators though he was not a high school or university graduate. He compelled me to follow him to his workshop, study my books, bible or attend lessons during holidays. I used to be unhappy then because I had to time to play with my friends.
I lost my dad when I was in SSS 2, I was from a poor family hence it was difficult to get money to pay for school fees. After my secondary education, I started working in hotels and later as a coaster bus conductor in Abuja. God later used my uncle to train me and further my education.
Before the demise of my dad, he did everything possible to ensure I understand mathematics by using only two sets of clothes for years to ensure he saves money to pay my fees and enroll me for home lessons. He always flogged the hell out of me when I fail my test, exams or when am playing instead of studying.
One day, my late dad told me to hold on to one thing and that is God and my bible and adviced me to learn his skill and be studious.
Today, by the grace of God I am a graduate of mechanical engineering. As a result of the skills my late dad taught me years ago, I have been able to secure a Job as a mechanical engineer with a reputable company in power generation. Glory to God!!
