You can now officially welcome Veekee James to the 3rd floor.

The designer and fashion darling clocks 30 today, and in true Veekee fashion, she didn’t just show up — she rolled out. Over the last few days, she’s treated Instagram to a countdown of head-turning looks that did two things: built anticipation for the big day and spotlighted a fresh roster of designers across Africa.

And get this — none of the pre-birthday slays came from her own atelier. Instead, she stepped out in a Ghanaian-made stunner, a Cameroonian creation, and other standout looks from fashion creatives that weren’t named Veekee James. Consider it a one-woman campaign in support of continental style. If there’s a better way to hype your milestone birthday and celebrate the ecosystem you’re part of, we haven’t seen it.

Then the big day arrived — and so did the dress.

For her birthday look, Veekee wore a light pink ruffled mini, styled with a sleek high bun, delicate gold hairpins, minimal jewellery (just studs and a chunky gold chain), and metallic heels to seal the deal. It’s playful. It’s polished. And it’s very much her.

She dropped the look on Instagram with the caption, “Y’all can officially welcome me to the 3rd floor. This is 30!” A moment. And judging by the buildup, there’s more where that came from.

If this is how she opened the next decade, we’re ready for the full fashion saga.
