Tyla is stepping into her next chapter, and she’s doing it on her own terms.
After months of quiet build-up, the global star has officially confirmed that her sophomore album, APOP, will arrive on July 24, 2026. The announcement came with a cinematic trailer that reads less like a teaser and more like a statement of intent: this is a new era, and it’s bigger, sharper, and fully defined.

The visual introduces what Tyla calls the “A-Pop” era, a sound and identity rooted in African influence but built for a global stage. In the clip, she reflects on her growth, describing this phase as one where she finally feels grounded and certain of her direction.
That clarity marks a shift from her debut. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Tyla described her first album as a “rush,” while APOP* is more intentional an evolution shaped by experience, confidence, and control. She echoed this sentiment in a conversation with i-D Magazine, noting that the 19-track project reflects where she is now, both personally and artistically.

It’s a defining moment in a career that has moved at remarkable speed.
Her 2024 debut album, Tyla, introduced the world to her breakout hit Water, which earned her the first-ever Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance. She followed that up with another win in 2026 for Push 2 Start, making history as the first artist to win the category twice and the youngest African artist to hold two Grammys.

While the full tracklist for APOP* is still under wraps, a few key records have already set the tone. Chanel, which first appeared on her 2025 mixtape WWP, is part of the lineup, alongside She Did It Again, her recent collaboration with Zara Larsson that taps into nostalgic, 2000s-inspired pop energy. There are also reports of a track titled “Dynamite” featuring Wizkid, hinting at the cross-continental collaborations shaping the project.
To mark the release, Tyla is set to perform at the TODAY Show Citi Concert Series in New York City on the same day the album drops, an early signal of just how global this rollout is set to be.
