La Mode Entrepreneur Excellence Grant

The first Monday in May returned with full force as the Met Gala once again transformed the Metropolitan Museum of Art into fashion’s most watched red carpet. As always, the night balanced the spectacle with intention raising funds for the museum’s Costume Institute while delivering the kind of imagery that defines careers in a single frame.

This year’s Met Gala edition was chaired by Nicole Kidman, Beyoncé, Venus Williams and Anna Wintour, with the theme “Fashion is Art” setting the tone. The conversation extended beyond the carpet, with honorary chairs Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos adding a layer of controversy to the evening’s backing.

Inside, the exhibition Costume Art, curated by Andrew Bolton, explored the relationship between the dressed body and artistic expression, placing fashion in direct dialogue with painting, sculpture and other visual forms, spanning both historical and contemporary pieces from the Costume Institute.

On the carpet, interpretation was everything. Some leaned literal, others abstract, but the strongest looks understood the assignment without overexplaining it. From Rihanna’s commanding presence to Emma Chamberlain’s evolving red carpet language, the night delivered a spectrum of standout moments.

Ahead, a closer look at the best-dressed guests who turned the Met Gala theme into a statement.
