Set in Ikwerre, Nigeria, Remi and Nneoma reimagine the beloved biblical story through a contemporary lens, placing two women at the centre of a deeply emotional journey shaped by grief, family, faith, and new beginnings.
Leading the cast are two actresses who know a thing or two about commanding the screen: Liz Benson Ameye and Bisola Aiyeola.

In the film, Liz Benson Ameye stars as Nneoma, while Bisola Aiyeola takes on the role of Remi, her daughter-in-law. After experiencing a devastating shared loss, the two women find themselves navigating the challenging realities of widowhood, societal expectations, and uncertain futures. Yet through heartbreak comes an unbreakable bond, one rooted in loyalty, compassion, and the determination to keep moving forward.
As the story unfolds, Remi finds unexpected love, opening the door to hope and the possibility of rebuilding a life that once seemed permanently altered.

What makes Remi and Nneoma particularly compelling is its focus on female relationships. At a time when many stories centre on romance alone, this film places the connection between two women at its emotional core, exploring how support, sacrifice, and shared experiences can become sources of strength during life’s most challenging moments.
The supporting cast features an impressive lineup of Nollywood talent, including Uche Montana, Ifeanyi Kalu, Tina Mba, Kelechi Udegbe, and Buchi Franklin, adding even more depth to an already promising production.
Behind the camera, the project is directed by Lyndsey Efejuku and produced by actress and filmmaker Bikiya Graham-Douglas, with Solate Ovundah-Akarolo serving as executive producer. The screenplay comes from Priye Diri and Adelarin Awotedu, while acclaimed music supervisor Kalinè, known for her work on Breath of Life and After 30, oversees the film’s musical landscape.

From its premise alone, Remi and Nneoma feel positioned to be more than just another adaptation. It is a story about choosing loyalty when walking away would be easier. It is about rebuilding after loss. And perhaps most importantly, it is about finding hope in places where grief once lived.
For audiences looking for heartfelt storytelling rooted in culture, faith, and human connection, this may be one of Nollywood’s most expected releases of the season.
Remi and Nneoma opens in cinemas across Nigeria on 26 June 2026, bringing a timeless story of loyalty and redemption to a new generation of moviegoers.
