Nigeria has officially crowned a new queen. Tamunosoye Karibi-George emerged as Miss World Nigeria 2026 following a glamorous coronation ceremony held at the Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos.
The event, organised by the Silverbird Group under the theme “Pride, Power, and Purpose,” brought together 20 finalists from across the country in a celebration of beauty, leadership, intelligence, and social impact. After a week of intensive leadership training, advocacy projects, and competitive challenges, Tamunosoye stood out among the contestants to claim the coveted title.

Representing Bayelsa State and originally from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, the 26-year-old succeeds Miss World Nigeria 2025, Joy Mojisola Raimi, who made Nigeria proud by reaching the Top 20 and finishing among the Top 5 African contestants at the 72nd Miss World pageant in India.
For Tamunosoye, the victory marks another milestone in an already impressive pageant career. She previously represented Nigeria at Miss Africa International 2024, where she emerged winner in Accra, Ghana. That experience, coupled with her commitment to leadership and community impact, helped position her as a strong contender for the national crown.
Speaking on the vision of the competition, the organisers reiterated that Miss World Nigeria is about far more than physical beauty. The platform seeks to empower young women who demonstrate purpose, leadership, and a commitment to creating positive change within their communities.

With the crown now secured, Tamunosoye’s focus shifts to the international stage. She will represent Nigeria at the 73rd edition of the Miss World Festival, which coincides with the pageant’s 75th anniversary celebrations. The competition will take place in Vietnam from August 9 to September 5, 2026, with the grand finale set for Ho Chi Minh City.
As she prepares to carry Nigeria’s hopes onto the global stage, many will be watching to see whether she can build on the country’s proud pageant legacy and follow in the footsteps of trailblazers like Agbani Darego, who made history as the first Black African woman to win Miss World in 2001.
Congratulations to Tamunosoye Karibi-George on her well-deserved victory.
