Instead of taking a plane, she’s opting to drive from London to Lagos. This ambitious venture goes beyond ticking off destinations; it’s driven by a love for adventure, a commitment to inspire other female solo travelers—especially black women—and a determination to challenge preconceived limits. The comprehensive plan involves traversing 17 nations in two months, exploring every city and landscape along the route. Pelumi’s path covers England, France, Spain, Morocco, the vast West Sahara Desert, Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, and Benin before reaching Lagos. The journey kicks off on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, and concludes by the end of March. This isn’t Pelumi’s first road trip; she has previously completed the Lagos-Ghana route twice, explored Namibia for two weeks, and driven from London to Lake Como, Italy.
