La Mode Entrepreneur Excellence Grant

Wisdom Kaye has gone from filming fashion videos on his phone to standing on a stage receiving one of fashion’s most meaningful honours.

The Nigerian-American creator was presented with the LVMH-sponsored Virgil Abloh Award at Harlem’s Fashion Row, marking another major moment in his rise from internet fashion creator to recognised name in the industry.

Kaye

Kaye attended the ceremony in a sharp navy pinstripe double-breasted suit, styled with a crisp white shirt, striped tie and polished black boots. The tailored look felt right for the occasion, combining classic menswear with the fashion-forward edge he has become known for.

The award is especially significant because of how far Kaye has come. Before becoming a familiar face in high-fashion spaces, he built his platform by creating fashion videos with a phone, turning his eye for styling and visual storytelling into a career that has taken him into some of the industry’s biggest rooms.

His rise also reflects the changing relationship between fashion and digital creators. What began online has developed into opportunities to work with major luxury brands, attend major fashion events and now receive an award carrying the name of Virgil Abloh, one of fashion’s most influential creative figures.

For Kaye, the moment feels less like a sudden breakthrough and more like another chapter in a career he has been building in public.

From phone-shot fashion videos to high-fashion recognition, Wisdom Kaye is proof that the internet can be more than a platform for showcasing your style — it can be the starting point for a career.

And this time, he wasn’t just documenting the fashion moment. He was the one being celebrated.
