In a historic moment for whisky enthusiasts, the Macallan Adami 1926 has once again set a new record as the “World’s Most Expensive Whisky,” fetching a staggering $2.7 million at a recent Sotheby’s auction in London. This bottle, aged for 60 years in sherry casks and one of only 40 ever bottled in 1986, boasts a label designed by the renowned Italian painter Valerio Adami. Notably, the Macallan 1926 has broken its own previous records, with the three highest auction prices for any bottle of wine or spirit belonging to this exceptional collection.

Sotheby’s, which estimated the bottle to fetch between $700,000 and $1.2 million, witnessed fervent bidding that far exceeded expectations. The Macallan 1926 continues to be a symbol of unparalleled luxury and exclusivity, with its rich dark fruit notes and historic significance, making it a coveted masterpiece in the world of rare whiskies.
