Ireti Doyle, a celebrated Nigerian actress, recently shared candid insights into her journey in the entertainment industry during an episode of the “Terms and Conditions” podcast. The actress revealed that, in the early days of aspiring to become an actress, she felt a sense of embarrassment about vocalizing her passion.

Reflecting on her early struggles to express her desire to act, Doyle admitted, “I was embarrassed, I couldn’t say it out loud for a long time. I don’t even know why now that I’m thinking about it, but I was just embarrassed to say it.”

Despite harboring a strong inner desire to pursue acting, Doyle found it challenging to articulate her aspirations to others. She recounted a pivotal moment when a perceptive friend noticed her emotional state and directly inquired about her true ambitions.

“I remember the first time I would utter the words, it was to a friend of mine. He said, ‘You have been moody. You’ve been crying. What is it?’ You know, there’s some people who see-see you and have more experience with you,” she shared.

Initially hesitant to disclose her true passion, Doyle revealed that she told her friend she wanted to be a star, and it was only after further prodding that she finally admitted, “I want to act.” Fortunately, her friend responded with understanding and support.

More than two decades later, Ireti Doyle has emerged as one of the most sought-after and respected actresses in Nigeria. Despite the initial embarrassment and challenges, she has successfully carved out a remarkable career in the entertainment industry. The actress, often referred to as a “late bloomer,” serves as an inspiration to aspiring talents navigating their own paths in the world of acting.
