Actress and comedian Tiffany Haddish has entered a no contest plea to a charge of reckless driving, resolving the legal issues stemming from her arrest on Thanksgiving weekend in Los Angeles. The Girls Trip star, 44, faced two misdemeanor charges—driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08%. The plea deal led to the dismissal of the DUI charge.
As part of the agreement, Haddish will serve a one-year summary probation, complete 40 hours of community service, and participate in the Mothers Against Drunk Driving’s Victim Impact Program. Additionally, she must attend a HAM (Hospital and Morgue) Program, an SB1176 driver’s education program, and pay standard fines and fees. Haddish received a “Watson” admonition, acknowledging the potential harm of her actions, and is required to provide proof of completion.
The actress was arrested after allegedly falling asleep behind the wheel of her Tesla. Originally entering a not guilty plea, Haddish made light of the situation during a subsequent performance, stating that she “prayed to God to send me a man with a job, career, preferably in a uniform, and I answered my prayers.” The legal matter in California followed a previous DUI arrest in January 2022 in Georgia.
