Imagine walking a runway and your own family doesn’t even recognize you. For Kendall Jenner, this was a reality she absolutely loved!
The new season of The Kardashians kicked off with a bang, and right from the start, Kendall is dishing on one of her most unique modeling experiences. In the premiere episode, aired on May 23, viewers get an inside look at the Victoria Beckham Spring/Summer 2024 show during Paris Fashion Week — a show where Kendall’s look was so dramatically different, even her family couldn’t spot her.
It all went down at the former home of Chanel’s legendary designer Karl Lagerfeld. Kendall, 28, closed the show in a striking outfit: thick black oversized glasses, a slicked-back hairstyle, and a shiny black boxy suit. She was nearly unrecognizable, and that’s exactly how she wanted it.
Backstage, the chaos of Paris traffic almost cost Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian the chance to see Kendall strut her stuff. They rushed through gridlock, arriving just in time to take their seats beside Vogue’s Anna Wintour and soccer legend David Beckham.
“I think if anything, we have to be extra on time — early — just not give anyone a reason to talk s—,” Kim said, emphasizing the pressure to be punctual.
As Kendall stepped onto the runway, Kris was in a state of confusion. “Where’s Kendall? Did we miss Kendall? I’m like, maybe Kendall got stuck in traffic? What’s happening?” Kris wondered aloud in her confessional.
Kris and Kim were dressed to impress in silky coordinated outfits designed by Victoria Beckham. Kris rocked an all-black ensemble featuring a spaghetti-strap slip dress layered under a leather jacket with a shearling collar, while Kim dazzled in a frosted-pink silk dress.
Despite the fashion-forward appearance, Kris and her boyfriend, Corey Gamble, completely missed Kendall’s runway moment. Kris, addressing her daughter in her confessional, said, “Kendall, I don’t want you to take this personally, but I think I should let you know that I didn’t see you walk because I didn’t recognize you. It’s so horrible!”
But for Kendall, this was music to her ears. “My family, my friends, they didn’t recognize me, but I kind of love that, I really kind of love it,” she shared. “That’s, like, kind of always my goal, like, being a chameleon, I guess, in the sense of becoming a different character.”
Elsewhere in the episode, Kim revealed her whirlwind schedule during last year’s Paris Fashion Week. She described her grueling itinerary: “So, I go to New York, six hours, to Paris for 15 hours, to Atlantic City, to Milan. My plane’s gonna go home, pick up my kids…So, I’m actually gonna have them drop me off in Milan. Then I have to go to Washington D.C.”
Kendall, reflecting on her sister’s relentless pace, expressed her concern: “God bless her soul. I have so much respect for the level of ‘give a f—‘ that she has…flying around to all these places and more power to her, for sure. But I just could never. It’s so much.”
“I worry about her, I really do,” Kendall added. “I think about her often in the sense of I want her to take a break.”
