Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has done what Ebuka does best: turned a Big Brother Naija Sunday night into another excuse to talk about fashion.
For the latest Sunday Eviction Show, the host stepped out in a bespoke Lisa Folawiyo Studio look that took inspiration from one of the most unexpected things you could put on a suit: corn.
The sky-blue tailored set featured graphic green maize stalks printed across the jacket and wide-leg trousers, creating the illusion of corn leaves growing across the fabric. But the real statement came from the 3D braided rope details sewn onto the suit, carefully coiled to mimic the texture and shape of a corn cob.
And Ebuka wasn’t done with the theme. Underneath the jacket, he wore a matching scoop-neck vest decorated with subtle embroidered kernel motifs. The styling then softened the bold concept with a brown fedora, clear-frame glasses, layered silver chains and brown suede loafers.
The result was playful without looking costume-like. That balance is what made the look work. The sky-blue base gave the outfit room to breathe, while the green embroidery and rope details delivered the drama. The brown accessories also brought warmth to what could easily have become an overwhelmingly colourful look.
It is another reminder of why Ebuka’s Sunday outfits have become almost as anticipated as the eviction results themselves. He rarely settles for simply wearing a good suit. There is usually a concept, a detail or a little bit of Nigerian creativity waiting to be spotted.
And this time, that detail happened to be corn. Honestly, only Ebuka could make maize look this expensive.
