And if the first look is anything to go by, audiences can expect the same chaotic humour, outrageous storytelling, and social-climbing antics, this time set against the backdrop of Lagos’ digital culture.
Since the original Alakada debuted in 2009, Yetunde Animashaun has remained one of Nollywood’s most unforgettable characters, a master of exaggeration navigating life through bold lies and bigger ambitions. In Alakada GenZ, she’s taking on a new challenge: the fast-paced, clout-driven world of TikTok, influencer culture, and the ever-elusive “soft life.”
From viral trends to curated online personas, Yetunde does what she does best—faking it till she makes it. Or, more accurately, until everything unravels in the most hilarious way possible.
Beyond starring in the film, Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi also serves as producer, maintaining the comedic tone that has kept the franchise relevant for over a decade. Direction comes from Akay Mason, who injects a fresh, contemporary energy into Yetunde’s latest misadventure.
The cast blends familiar faces with rising stars, including Teniola Aladese, Bianca Ugowanne, Irewole Olaniyan, and Imisioluwa Opeyemi Ayanwale. Together, they bring to life a story that reflects the pressures of maintaining a “perfect” online identity while navigating real-life limitations.
