‘Omo Ope’, Nigerian artist Asake has been riding a wave of success, cementing his status as a bona fide superstar. His meteoric rise continued at the 2024 MOBO Awards, where he clinched the prestigious title of Best African Act.

The category boasted fierce competition, with heavyweight contenders including industry giants like Adekunle Gold, Davido, Rema, Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, and Wizkid, representing the best of Nigerian music on the international stage. Additionally, the lineup featured formidable talents from across the African continent, including South Africa’s Tyla, Cameroonian-American artist Libianca, and eSwatini sensation Uncle Waffles.

Despite the formidable competition, Asake emerged victorious, reaffirming his position as one of Africa’s most exciting and influential musical talents. His win not only celebrates his individual achievements but also serves as a testament to the vibrant and diverse music scene thriving across the continent.

But Asake wasn’t the sole Nigerian artist to bask in the spotlight at the MOBO Awards. Afro-gospel sensation Limoblaze also clinched a coveted award, taking home the prize for Best Gospel Act.
