Netflix’s inaugural “What We Watched: A Netflix Engagement Report” has unveiled that “Shanty Town,” produced by Chichi Nworah, has emerged as the most-streamed African Original in Nigeria. The report, released by Netflix this past Tuesday, provides an unprecedented look into the viewing preferences of subscribers, covering the period from January to June 2023.

“Shanty Town” has garnered an impressive 27.3 million hours of viewership during this timeframe, solidifying its position as the second most-streamed African Original across the entire continent. The only production to surpass its viewership is South Africa’s “Unseen.”

Netflix’s “What We Watched” report is a comprehensive compilation, encompassing over 18,000 titles and representing 99% of all Netflix viewing. The report sheds light on the preferences of subscribers, capturing nearly 100 billion hours viewed.
