Fresh off the buzz from her single “Love Me Jeje,” Tems just launched The Leading Vibe Initiative—a platform created for women, by a woman who’s walked the road without a map. And the first stop? Lagos, Nigeria.

If you thought this was just another celeb pet project, think again. This is Tems building the future of music for African women—and not just the ones holding the mic. She’s spotlighting writers, engineers, producers, sound techs—the backstage girls who rarely get the flowers but run the show.

“From my self-taught journey with no roadmap, I created this initiative to support African women in music,” she wrote. “Those breaking barriers, building boldly, and leading the next wave.”

The rollout starts with a two-day programme in Lagos on August 8–9—think hands-on workshops, real-time mentorships, masterclasses with industry pros, and an open call to women aged 18–35 who are ready to take the leap.

It’s about giving women access to tools and tables.

Tems has said it before: she didn’t have a guide. No mentors, no big studio budget, no easy co-signs. Just a belief in her sound and a hunger to be heard. That spirit? It’s baked into every part of Leading Vibe.

For “the ones who believe. The ones who dare to be different. The ones with a dream to be seen and a voice that deserves to be heard.”

And Lagos is just the beginning. Plans are already in motion to expand across the continent, connecting more women with real opportunities and a real community.

Applications are now open—so if you’re a music girlie in Africa with something to say, Tems just gave you a mic. Don’t waste it.
