Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage is stepping into a new role as she makes her acting debut in the Nollywood blockbuster “Water and Garri,” set to premiere on May 10 on Prime Video.

Directed by Meji Alabi, the film is inspired by Tiwa Savage’s second EP song of the same title, released in 2021. It tells the story of Aisha, an ambitious fashion designer who returns to her native home in Nigeria after 10 years in the United States following a family bereavement.

Produced by Jimi Adesanya, “Water and Garri” features a star-studded cast including Jemima Osunde, Mike Afolarin, and Andrew Bunting. The film explores themes of love, identity, and self-discovery, all set against the backdrop of a changing Nigeria where violence and tension are on the rise.

The plot follows Aisha as she reconnects with her family and confronts the guilt she left behind, making “Water and Garri” a compelling watch for moviegoers looking for a captivating story.
