Meet the Nigerian Expressionist Emediong Udnak Uko.

The 19 years old Akwa Ibom artist is the first,youngest and only African to have her painting displayed at the cyprus modern art museum.

Uko showed signs of distinction at an early age. In 2015, she won the UBA Foundation National Essay competition. At the time, she was a student of the British Nigerian Academy Abuja

Her big break was the painting of the Nigerian musician and political activist Lagbaja, which is now in the possession of the Forbes listed Cypriot businessman, Suat Günsel.


Emediong revealed that her inspiration comes from music genres that convey a message. She seems to be opening doors for other young and growing artist. She has continued to make a name for herself.

Emediong udnak Uko recently unveiled another expressionistic painting inspired by the song “Beast of no Nation”- Fela Anikulapo Kuti (1986).

Emediong in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday, said the painting is aimed at drawing attention to leadership lapses that need to be fixed in the country, while retaining Fela’s earlier message.

NAN,also, reports that Emediong recently auctioned 17 paintings with themes on motherhood, music and nature.

It safe to say that Emediong Udnak Uko is a personality to look out for in the coming years amongst the art oriented post-millenials.
