Cardi B Gives Nigerian Streetwear a Major Pop-Culture Moment

Cardi B’s latest music video has given Nigerian streetwear a serious international spotlight.

In the visual for “Ah Ha,” the rapper and her dancers step out in pieces from Lagos-based label Meji Meji, bringing the brand’s playful, culture-driven aesthetic into one of the video’s most energetic scenes.

The moment comes during an outdoor dance sequence, where Cardi wears Meji Meji’s graphic “Ko Mi Je Rush Rush” cycling tee alongside the brand’s “Sisi Ologe” top, while layered gold jewellery and statement boots take the looks up another notch.

It’s loud, cheeky and unmistakably Meji Meji.

The brand has built its identity around turning familiar Nigerian products, phrases and cultural references into streetwear. Seeing those references on Cardi B and on her dancers—takes that Lagos energy straight into global pop culture.

The looks were styled by her longtime stylist Kollin Carter, making the placement even more significant for the Nigerian label.

From Lagos to Brooklyn, Meji Meji is proving that Nigerian streetwear doesn’t need to water itself down to travel.
