Kayode Kasum’s hit Nollywood comedy returns with Ajosepo 2: The Gathering, set to hit cinemas nationwide from May 28, bringing back the chaos, humour, and family drama that made the original a standout. Written by Ife Olujuyigbe, the sequel features an ensemble cast including Toyin Abraham, Timini Egbuson, Bolaji Ogunmola and Tomike Adeoye, and continues the story of love, secrets, and wedding-day tension in true Nollywood fashion.

If you enjoyed the first “Ajosepo,” this sequel wastes no time raising the stakes. The world of chaotic Nigerian family dynamics is back in full force, and this time the focus shifts to another high-pressure wedding: Jide, played by Timini Egbuson, and Mary, played by Bolaji Ogunmola. What should be a celebration quickly becomes a pressure cooker of emotions, unresolved issues, and generational clashes, all set within the tight, unavoidable space of a family gathering.

Directed once again by Kayode Kasum and co-written by Ife Olujuyigbe alongside Feyifunmi Oginni, the film picks up two years after the events of the original. Dapo and Tani are now navigating married life, but peace is short-lived as both families find themselves pulled back into another round of dramatic entanglements. It’s the kind of storytelling that leans into familiarity while still finding new ways to escalate the humour and tension.

The returning ensemble cast is stacked with familiar faces, including Mercy Aigbe, Mike Afolarin, Ronke Oshodi – Oke, Yemi Solade, Kamo State, Kiitan Bukola, and Tomike Adeoye, with veteran actor Odunlade Adekola joining the lineup for added weight and comedic energy. The chemistry between the cast remains one of the film’s strongest selling points, giving the story its lively, unpredictable rhythm.

At its core, “Ajosepo 2: The Gathering” continues to explore the messy beauty of Nigerian family life—where love, pride, tradition, and ego constantly collide. With its nationwide cinema release set for May 28, it’s shaping up to be one of the most expected Nollywood releases of the season.
