Born Dumebi Nkechi Lea Nwafor, Dumebi hails from South-Eastern Nigeria but was born and bred in Lagos, being the daughter of a music teacher, her interest in music wasn’t unusual, she joined her church choir at age 8, harnessing her talent and love for music, even trying out in some talent hunt shows until she decided to take it professional after graduating from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka with a B.Sc in Zoology. In 2011 she dropped her debut single SELENSE, after which other hit tracks like “No rival” “tele mi” and “kill me die” followed. Dumebi is a singer, songwritter and undeniably one of the fastest rising female acts in the Nigerian music scene, she describes her kind of music as a blend of afropop and raggae because of her love for patois and Jamaican dancehall, Dumebi is also a professional makeup artist and the CEO of Lea Uzuri House of Beauty, she is currently signed to celebrity producer VTEK’s label: Awesome Express Music where she is currently promoting her latest single with VTEK titled “wassup” which has been endorsed by big stars like Psquare IllBliss, Chidimma, Suspekt, Darey and a couple of others.
