The 10th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) is set to take place in Lagos on May 10, 2024, promising an evening of glitz and glamour.

In a recent announcement, the organisers unveiled the list of nominations for this year’s awards. One notable change is in the selection process for the Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress categories, which will now be determined by a jury instead of public votes.

Leading the pack with an impressive 12 nominations is Tolu Ajayi’s “Over the Bridge,” which is up for awards including Best Movie, Best Director, and Best Lead Actress. Close behind is CJ Fiery Obasi’s black and white film “Mami Wata,” which received 11 nominations. “Breath of Life” and “Jagun Jagun – The Warrior” also garnered 10 nominations each.

The star-studded blockbuster “A Tribe Called Judah” has received five nominations, with Timini Egbuson and Funke Akindele both in the running for Best Supporting Actor and Best Actress respectively.

Other strong contenders include “Blood Vessel” with eight nominations and “Afamefuna” with four nominations.
